My name is Brigid Watson. I am a qualified tour guide and founder of Sustainable Journeys Ireland in 2017. I am a regional specialist guide focusing on delivering tours and experiences in coastal county Down. I have lived near Portaferry for the last 20 years.

The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where the tours take place is less than 1 hour south from Belfast and less than 2 hours from Dublin. It is a rural farming area with gently rolling drumlin hills which form a ‘basket of eggs’ scenery around picturesque Strangford Lough, the largest lough in these islands.

This area is a treasure trove of Christian Heritage sites and prehistoric settlement sites. It is also a nature paradise with both land and marine nature reserves. It is renowned for its birdlife and diversity of marine life

I am a former Geography teacher and Education Adviser and now a Level 3 tour guide and environmentalist. My specialisms are Christian Heritage and Nature. I also offer general heritage tours and an immersive ancient Irish cultural heritage craft experience.
