Thon Boy Hume

I have many years’ experience as a tour guide and am also a keen local historian, author, lecturer and a sometime freelance broadcaster on BBC Radio Ulster. 

I specialise in Ulster Scots, Ulster-American and 19^th and 20^th century Irish history, but I am fascinated by all aspects of history. I deliver talks and tours on a wide variety of subjects, including graves of famous historical figures, tourism history, literary connections, folklore, and general tours featuring Ulster Scots sites, American links, First and Second World War history, and seafaring connections. I deliver tours for the Gobbins Cliff Walk in Islandmagee, focusing on history, geology, wildlife and nature.

I have created bespoke tours, including in recent years for international tour operators, historical societies and community groups and I have a good working knowledge of sites and locations across Northern Ireland. My main centre of operation is East Antrim, although I do cover other areas. 

I am told that I have the ability to retain a wealth of information and bring history to life, and that is certainly something I always endeavour to do.
