My name is Brian Hoey.

I live on a mountain farm and welcome you to my homeplace, the stunning Ring of Gullion in South Armagh. My farm is nestled right on the lower slopes of this most mystical mountain.

I'm a professional mountain leader, local historian, tour guide, forager of wild foods and medicinal plants.

My real passion is for the history and heritage of my homeplace and I love nothing better than sharing the rich rural stories of my ancestors who have walked these fields, hills and mountains for thousands of years before me.

The Slieve Gullion area of outstanding natural beauty (A.O.N.B), the Mountains of Mourne, County Down and the beautiful Cooley peninsula in County Louth are my usual stomping grounds.

I offer a range of tours from high level mountain hikes to slower paced unique ‘on farm’ experiences introducing you to the ancient art of ‘booleying and butter making’.

Wild edible plants and medicinal herbs offering simple folk remedies as handed down from the world of my grandparents are woven into the myths and legends.

Join me in a uniquely rich upland environment and take a glimpse into the last hidden gem, the real heart of Ireland.
